I'm getting it all from yukiko-kun.deviantart.com/
Today we had another game in the confederation Cup, don't ask me who played because I really couldn't care less about soccer. The thing is, while the teams were playing inside Maracană (rio de janeiro), there were people protesting peacefully outside. The thing is, none of this gets televisioned or in the media. They're completely censouring us, pretending everything is fine and nothing is happening on the streets.
Inernter has been our main ally in this and we'll keep going! So many things I've found out that shock me about this thing, I'll list them here:
1- Surveilance cameras and every kind of recording media in the streets was shut down so there would be no proof
2- Protesters that were peacefully shouting "no violence", again, and singing our nacional hymn got hit with rubber bullets (yet again). Video here [link]
3- They entered "Quinta da Boa Vista", which is basically a park where people in Rio go to spend their free time. There were regular people over there, people who had nothing to do with the riot and even so police men didn't care at all, still shooting against them. Now, before you blame the protesters, let me remind you they didn't do anything wrong. Wouldn't you run and try to protect yourself if someone tried to injure when you did nothing wrong? That's only logic.
4- Two different news channels had they signal shut down because they were broadcasting the whole situation. Now, as infuriating as it is, I was already expecting. What I wasn't expecting is that it seems who gave this order wasn't the judiciary powe, but FIFA. Why, you ask? Because of this: [link]
It's been going around FB everywhere, I even helped share it. So, yeah, I should be happy since it seems FIFA is afraid our rioting situation might affect the World Cup somehow.
Oh, also! Something very beautiful I found out today, it seems they'll use the semi-finals of confederetion cup (jun 26th) to vote for an emend that will basically forbid investigations about organized crime and diversion of funds and corruption, violation of human rights and any kind of abuse commited by Agents of the State.
We should be rioting, we should be pissed! There is so much to complain about I wouldn't finish today and it's almost 2 am over here already. So, if you really think our rioting is over nothing, come talk to me, but please keep your mind open, because you'll hear a whole load ob bullshit we've been swallowing in silence so far.
Once again, if you're reading this, if you sympathize with the cause, please help spread the word! You can even link me or ask for more information.
If you're still confused about why we are rioting, here is some useful information in english:
Guys, something new is happening! I just saw it today, it seems that other countries are rioting as well to support us! I'll give the link and translate.
This monday, jun 17th of 2013, Brasil is going to tidy up the house. This tuesday, jun 18th of 2013, the world will also stop with international manifestations in solidarity with Brasil.
There's a huge list of places underneath. You can ask me to translate if you're interested in making part of it! Let's do our very bests!
Hello there, beautiful friends and watchers!
You might not know, but right now, in the country I live (Brasil), we're having massive riots on many capital cities. It started about the raise of bus taxes by 0,20 cents, but after acts of unnecessary violence from the police, it became a much more intense thing, this time about how our rights have been stepped on over and over along the years.
Just right now, in the opening of the Confederations Cup hosted in Brasilia, our capital, the president got booed by thousands of people because of this ridiculous situation. As a matter of fact, there were some protesters on the outside of the stadium as they held it, complaining about the abuse of authority and so many other things.
There is actually SO MUCH going on right now that I'm not sure where to start, but let's start!
So, the rioting was about bus taxes until the police started with the violence. They threw tear gas and shot rubber bullets against protesters that only shouted "No violence".
Even against journalists! Actually, while on air, one of them was trying to explain the whole situation. She says "Journalists are usually very well placed to make their jobs, now, if there are SEVEN of them, I imagine the amount of protesters that really" and then she gets cut by someone saying "NO" and tries to rephrase the whole thing.
CAN YOU IMAGINE IT?!
There are so many horrible scenes it's hard to believe it's actually happening, even though i'm happy it is, it's about time.
Here's more information, in english, that'll help.
...Meanwhile, our deputies play CandyCrush when they should be focusing on making the country a better place...
Here is a video telling what you guys from all around the world can actually do to help us. It's not much, but I ask, from the bottom of my heart, that you watch it till the very end and do whatever you're capable of to help us.
This is once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm hoping it'll really change stuff over here for the best.
If you have any other questions/comments, please talk to me. I'm sorry if this explanation wasn't as much as you wanted, I'm probably too fired up to formulate my sentences the right way.
Thank you all very much for reading!
